Would-be robber shoots man walking in West Loop, police say

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Police are investigating a shooting that occurred in the West Loop Tuesday night.

It was about 10:30 p.m. near Clinton and Lake.

According to Chicago Police, a 35-year-old man was on the sidewalk when a person, only described as “an unknown offender,” approached with a handgun and demanded property.

They didn't get any property.

Police said it was an attempted robbery.

The 35-year-old man was shot in the right leg and the shooter ran away.

The man was treated at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and was listed in good condition.
