"I wish I could be there with you all," Flowers tells the live studio audience gathered in Vegas for the Klein.Ally.Show broadcast, calling in as The Killers are currently touring overseas before heading this way for festival dates scheduled in mid-September.
The band's first synthy new single of the year, "Your Side Of Town," just arrived today, with Brandon admitting the "equal parts New Order, Pet Shop Boys, and Depeche Mode -- all Killers," new track is "definitely reminiscent of what I would have been listening to as a teenager in Las Vegas. It's kind of a beautiful collision of these influences that we've had over the years, that continue to influence us today, obviously."
With last year's one-off "boy," and now this new track in fans' hands, one could expect a new album is in the works to follow up the group's 2021 release, Pressure Machine. While not at liberty to discuss exactly what is on the horizon for the band as "it may throw people for a loop," Flowers says he believes more details will be coming in "about a month or so."
He's choosing to keep fans guessing if that means a Taylor Swift collaboration or not (probably not), but at the moment he says although they would have liked to have released something sooner between "boy," and "Your Side Of Town," they're "really happy" with the way it turned out.
As a Vegas local, Flowers also gave Klein and Ally some non-touristy advice for their visit: Go to the desert. "About 25 minutes west is a place called Red Rock Canyon," Brandon explains. "It is just a stunning place. There are some beautiful hikes there, and I love being out there."
Staying up late and winging it in the morning, as Klein and Ally have been doing, is just the right way to do Vegas, Flowers says as well. "I don't know if there's any etiquette," he admits. "I think the whole place has been about breaking rules for about a hundred years now."
