Tim McGraw recently joined Melissa & Austin from Chicago’s US99, talking about the sentimental name for his upcoming tour, and even a look back at his acting career.

The Pawnshop Guitar tour name is deeply autobiographical for McGraw, who reveals that his musical journey began as a college freshman when he pawned his class ring for $20 to purchase his first guitar. “I pawned my high school ring and bought a $20 guitar and started learning music, and it was sort of nonstop for me from there."

He also shares that his grandfather quietly tracked down the pawned ring and bought it back for him, a gesture that McGraw notes was likely a financial sacrifice for his grandfather, given his limited means at the time. “My grandfather probably didn't have the $20 to spare to get it, and he did it anyway."

The conversation shifts to McGraw's successful pivot into acting, as Melissa & Austin express enthusiasm for his film roles, specifically pushing to discuss his performance in Four Christmases.

“Well, ‘Four Christmases’ I've never seen,” he reveals to the shocked hosts. “I saw a trailer of it, and I don't wanna see myself like that.”

“I can go back and look at a few things that were fun to do, but ‘1883’ was special because I got to do it with my wife," Tim says, "and it was such a great story and a great show with a bunch of great actors, and you know, ‘Yellowstone’ was such a huge, huge TV series to sort of go back to the roots of how that whole family started and be like The OG Duttons is a pretty cool thing to have in your resume.”
