UNIONDALE, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — Three men have been charged after a taxi driver was robbed and beaten early Sunday, Nassau County police said.

Mariano Gonzalez Ramirez, 29, and Noe Gonzalez Ramirez, 33, both of Bethpage, and Miguel Ramirez Garcia, 26, hired a taxi to drive them around 2 a.m., but during the ride, they began to argue about the fare amount with the driver.

As the driver continued, the dispute escalated, and he pulled over outside of Ralph's Italian Ices on Hempstead Turnpike in Uniondale. Police said Mariano took $100 from the driver and fled.

The driver then got out and confronted Mariano outside the car.

Miguel Ramirez Garcia and Mariano Gonzalez Ramirez began striking the victim multiple times, at which time the man got back in his car and called police.

All three men then fled the scene, but were found at the Sunoco Gas Station on Hempstead Turnpike.

They were arrested without further incident, police said.

Mariano Gonzalez Ramirez and defendant Miguel Ramirez Garcia are both charged with second-degree robbery and theft of services. Gonzalez Ramirez was charged with theft of services.
