Car, manholes catch fire in Brooklyn, buildings evacuated: FDNY

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Officials are investigating after a car and several manholes caught fire in Brooklyn on Sunday morning, authorities said.

At about 10:15 a.m., fire officials were called to Brooklyn Avenue and Empire Boulevard in Crown Heights where they discovered flames coming from a vehicle and several manholes, the FDNY said.

Several buildings nearby were evacuated out of an abundance of caution, fire officials said.

There were no injuries reported.

An investigation remains ongoing.
