The NYPD is searching for the man who attacked the woman while she was on West 123 Street between Lenox Avenue and Adam Clayton Boulevard, punching her in the head from behind and knocking her to the ground, authorities said.

The attacker continued to physically assault the 43-year-old victim, kicking her repeatedly in the head and body, police said.

The suspect then dragged the woman between two parked cars, undressed her and attempted to rape her before fleeing the scene, officials said.

The woman sustained severe head trauma and was taken to Harlem Hospital in critical condition.
