Grading Falcons head coach Arthur Smith through 12 games

Arthur Smith has led the Atlanta Falcons to a 5-7 record in his first 12 games as head coach. And while they are alive in the NFC playoff race, the record, which is more wins than the team had all of last season, isn't the only measure by which Falcons fans are judging him.

As with any fanbase, some look past just wins and losses and either give credit or criticize based on other factors and how good a job Smith has done is no different.

Some of the positives for Smith include the five wins, the performance of Cordarrelle Patterson, and the lack of talent the team had when he took over. But do those outweigh the negatives?

Much of the criticism is based on some of the games you lost (Carolina and Washington) that you were in a good position to win, some issues with play-calling and play-design, and the copious amount of mental errors this team continues to make.

Certainly the grade is incomplete as there are still five games for this team to either get better, get worse, or stay the same. But through Week 13 there are quite a difference of opinions on the job that Coach Smith has done.
