For more than two decades he's been putting on a uniform, his gun and badge, and working to keep local communities safe. Since 1996 he's been on the job in his home community of North Fayette Township.
Most-recently he's been a fixture at West Allegheny High School, where he graduated and served as a school resource officer.
Now he's focused on the fight of his life, battling stage 4 colon cancer.
Watch the video on this page to see why Mike is fighting the good fight and how his fellow officers are helping out.
His wife Jennifer is a cancer survivor herself. Together they have two children, Courtney who's 21, and Mike Junior who's 16 and is diabetic.
At age 49, Mike is just one year from retirement. He's no longer able to work because of his cancer treatments. He's in for chemotherapy every two weeks for the rest of his life.
To help raise money for the family, North Fayette Township is selling "I Like Mike" t-shirts for $20 each.
When I say the community is rallying, that includes you. We're joining Mike's fight and encouraging everyone to help push their GoFundMe to its goal of $100,000.
