A school bus carrying 32 students caught fire in Fayette County Wednesday morning.

Grindstone Fire Chief Rich Lenk it happened as the bus was driving along Chalfont Rd. in Grindstone. It was heading for Frazier Middle and High School.
A diesel fuel leak likely caused the fire to start under the hood.
"You don't want to hear that call early in the morning, or anytime," Lenk said. "That was not a good call."
Fortunately, by the time crews arrived, the bus was full of smoke, but the driver had already extinguished the fire and evacuated the bus. No one was hurt.
Lenk says the driver's quick thinking likely prevented the situation from being much worse.
"That was probably pretty good because it was a diesel fuel leak, and it was feeding the fire. There was black smoke," he said. "It had a pretty good start underneath it. He got all the kids off the bus and put the fire out."
The kids were later taken to school by another bus.
Frazier School District Superintendent Bill Henderson confirmed the bus was carrying students from the district.
"All students were safely evacuated and transported to school on another bus," he said in an email. "The driver did a great job handling the situation."
