Deputies learned the suspect was trying to leave the store with a shopping cart full of groceries without paying. When confronted by an employee, the man “doused the employee with lighter fluid, retrieved a lighter, and attempted to set the victim on fire," the sheriff's department said in a news release.

The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Raul Bautista, was arrested following a search conducted by a Sheriff’s K-9 and a police bloodhound. He was charged with attempted murder and robbery and booked at Robert Presley Detention Center.

His bail was set for $1 million.
