ESPN’s Mina Kimes spoke highly of Sam Howell during Friday’s NFL Live, and The Sports Junkies believe the hype is justified.
“Sam Howell can move, he can use his legs, please utilize that,” Cakes said. “I’m sure Eric Bieniemy is going to take advantage of that skillset that Howell brings to the table.
“I just put a lot of stock in a guy who starts right away as a freshman, three years in a row, big-time college football…handled himself very well at that level. I think he’s gonna handle this OK. I think he’s a born leader. I just think it’s in his DNA.”
Cakes wasn’t the only Junkie who believes Howell could exceed expectations in Washington as the starter this season.
“I think he has a strong arm, stronger than people are willing to acknowledge,” EB said. “I’m cautiously optimistic. I don’t want to get ahead of myself, but I’m cautiously optimistic that he will handle things accordingly.”
