BUFFALO (WBEN) - Buffalo Public Works Commissioner Mike Finn held a press conference in Masten Park Thursday morning to announce that they have put all of the basketball hoops up across the city.

"We took the hoops down during the pandemic due to concerns about basketball being listed as a high risk sport," said Finn.

On February 1, the state and county issued new guidelines for high-risk sports that, according to Flynn, gave them the comfort that basketball could be played safely.

However, Finn doesn't want this to be taken as a sign that everything is completely back to a care-free normal.

"It's important to remember, though, that this is isn't just a comeback to five-on-five games, Gus Macker, ready to go; there still needs to be social distancing, mask wearing, smart, common sense use of our basketball courts," he said.

Finn added that tennis courts are scheduled to go up April 1.
