Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - The Buffalo Bills have submitted a qualifying original-round tender offer to Ryan Van Demark, a league source confirmed to WGR on Wednesday.
The move allows the club to retain the offensive lineman's rights and keep him from becoming an unrestricted free agent.
Van Demark, acquired by the team in 2022 after being waived by the Indianapolis Colts, was a restricted free agent. The Bills placed the "right of first refusal" tender on him, guaranteeing him, at least, $3.5 million on a one-year deal.
The 27-year-old can sign an offer sheet with another club, but the Bills would have the right to match, but with no compensation if they didn't.
Van Demark was active for all 17 games last season, starting four of them. He's been a valuable backup for the Bills over the last three seasons, playing in 43 contests and starting six of them.
