NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A suspect escaped police custody at a NYCHA housing project in Queens – and it’s not the first escape in recent weeks.
Mohamed Saleh escaped custody as he was being led from a building to a police car at the Queensbridge Houses around 2 a.m. Wednesday.
Police say Saleh somehow broke free after he had been taken into custody for drug sales.
He apparently lives at the housing project – one of the largest in the U.S.
Police believe he may be hiding with someone in one of the 3,000 apartments at the Queensbridge Houses.
There was a large police presence Wednesday morning as cops from the 114th Precinct worked with housing police to try to locate him.
It was just the latest in a series of similar escapes.
Last month, an alleged robber managed to escape police custody in Brownsville. He was captured a few days later.
And earlier this month, 31-year-old Jose Bisono-Torres, an attempted rape suspect, was caught after he escaped police custody in downtown Brooklyn.
