Building facade partially collapses in midtown Manhattan, 1 injured

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A part of the facade of a 5-story building under construction in midtown Manhattan partially collapsed Wednesday, injuring one person and causing traffic snarls and debris and dust to fill the immediate area.

Police told 1010 WINS that one person sitting in a car suffered a minor injury to his leg. He was transported to NYU Medical Center. 

"Emergency personnel are on the scene of a building collapse at East 38th Street & 3rd Avenue, Manhattan. Expect traffic delays in area," the NYC Office of Emergency Management tweeted at 12:20 p.m.

On its website, the city also warned, "Expect the presence of debris, smoke, dust, emergency vehicles, and traffic in the area."
