NEW YORK (1010 WINS) A sign at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and 15th Street calls on drivers to watch out for deer crossing the road.

“Watch out! Deer are more likely to cross the road at dawn and dusk,” reads the sign, on the side of a payphone kiosk.

Several passers-by told 1010 WINS that they have never seen a deer in the neighborhood.

“Rats, pidgeons, roaches, no deer,” said one.

“In the flatiron district? I don’t think so,” said another.

The banner directs viewers to visit the city’s website for more information “about living safely with deer.”

A Parks Department spokesperson told the New York Post that the agency will place signs outside of two boroughs which actually see deer – green spaces in the Bronx and Staten Island – when “capacity is reached.”
