NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A man in his 40's was pushed onto the subway tracks at the Broadway-Lafayette station in Manhattan police say.
The unprovoked attack occurred in NoHo at 10:10 a.m. on Thursday authorities say.
Police say a homeless man behaving erratically pushed a man onto the roadbed while assaulting a second person on the platform.
The suspect was taken into custody and has been taken to the hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.
The victim who fell onto the tracks did not come into contact with the train or the third rail but suffered a broken nose.
A police officer suffered a sprained wrist injury while responding to the incident and was taken to Bellevue Hospital.
No charges have been filed.
