New Jersey reports 10 new COVID-19 deaths, 400 new cases

TRENTON, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- Gov. Phil Murphy reported 10 new COVID-19 deaths and 400 new cases on Tuesday as New Jersey added two new states to its travel advisory. 

A total of 188,098 COVID-19 tests in New Jersey have now come back positive, and 14,086 people have died of complications related to the virus, Murphy tweeted. 


One of the 10 people who passed away died on Aug. 16; four died on Aug. 15; one died on Aug. 14; one died on Aug. 13; one died on Aug. 11; one died on Aug. 10; and one died on Aug. 5, he said. 

As of Monday, 468 people in the state were hospitalized with confirmed or probable COVID-19 cases, 106 of whom were in intensive care units and 41 of whom were on ventilators, New Jersey's COVID-19 tracker shows. 

New Jersey on Tuesday also joined New York and Connecticut in adding Alaska and Delaware to its list of high-risk states from which travelers must self-quarantine for 14 days.
