Police arrest NJ woman for allegedly stabbing a man while on their first date

NEWARK, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- A New Jersey woman is under arrest for allegedly stabbing a man while they were on their first date.Police say Zaniya P. Stevens, 23, of Newark met the man online.

According to Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose, police were called to the North Ward residence at approximately 2 a.m.Police said that Stevens allegedly flagged the police down and told them she stabbed the man three time during an altercation while visiting his apartment.in self defense.


Stevens also alleged that she was strangled, although according to Ambrose, no evidence of any neck abrasions were found.

The victim suffered did not suffer any life threatening injuries.

Stevens now faces charges of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
