Record set for longest feather boa in celebration of WorldPride in NYC

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- In celebration of WorldPride taking place in New York this month, and in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising, the Guinness World Record title for the longest feather boa was attempted on Thursday outside of Ripley's Believe It or Not! and Madame Tussauds in Times Square.

The feather boa reached approximately 1.2 miles, which is equivalent to nearly four times the length of the Empire State Building.

"It was 1,919.5 meters, a little less than 1.2 miles," said Spencer Cammarano, an official Guinness World Record adjudicator, confirming the boa had set a world record.

The event took place along in front of locals and visitors and was emceed by drag queen Shangela who is known for her appearance on Ru Paul's Drag Race and for portraying Lady Gaga's drag mother in the film “A Star is Born” with Bradley Cooper.

A special LGBTQ exhibit and collection items are on currently on display during the month of June including a red stiletto car and the record-breaking boa itself at Ripley’s.
