NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police are searching for a woman connected to an anti-Asian incident they say occurred on the subway on the Lower East Side.

On Friday, May 15, at approximately 7:45 a.m., inside of a southbound "F" train at the Delancey Street station, officials say a woman approached the 36-year-old female victim and made anti-Asian statements toward her.

When the victim used her cell phone to record the individual, the suspect repeatedly hit the victim's cell phone, officials said.

Another passenger on the train intervened and the victim got off the train at the East Broadway station.

The suspect, who police describe as a black female, 40 to 45-years-old, remained on the train and fled in an unknown direction.

She was last seen wearing a black mask over her face, a black jacket and a gray shirt.

Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
