A native of Grand Forks, North Dakota, Al Jones has been with 1010 WINS since December 1993. Al was a senior at the University of Montana, majoring in Forestry, when he faced reality…there were very few forestry jobs and too many graduates. After transferring to the University of North Dakota, he naturally majored in journalism.
Jazz DJ, baseball play by play, FM radio sidekick…Al did a little of everything at radio stations in Grand Forks, Hartford and finally at 1010 WINS.
Favorite story? That’s easy: riding in the ticker tape parade with the 1996 world champion Yankees. Hardest story to cover: funeral for the second of two Long Island brothers killed by cancer. “My voice was cracking, and I struggled to get through the story.”
