NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — Bethenny Frankel, former cast member of “The Real Housewives of New York City,” is set to make her Lifetime acting debut in “Danger in the Dorm” the network announced on Wednesday.

Frankel will star alongside Clara Alexandrova in the true crime feature directed by Robin Hays and based on the book by Ann Rule.

“In my 20s I briefly attempted acting and was shocked to be asked to immerse myself in such a significant role,” Frankel said. “My greatest takeaway is to recognize the thankless hard work that the cast and crew input every day. It exceeded my wildest imagination and I watch tv and movies differently now.”

“Danger in the Dorm” tells the story of Alexandrova’s character, Kathleen, after her classmate and childhood best friend is murdered. Kathleen attempts to catch the killer targeting girls on campus as her mother Joanne, played by Frankel, tries to protect her.

Rule’s novels, which are known for delving into the psyches of killers and victims alike, have been the subject of a variety of Lifetime adaptions like “Too Late to Say Goodbye” featuring Rob Lowe and “Hunt for the I-5 Killer” starring John Corbett.

“It’s an absolute thrill to collaborate with Bethenny. Her dedication and talent breathe life into every scene,” Hays said. “Watching her bring depth and authenticity to the character is a reminder of why I fell in love with storytelling in the first place.”

The film is currently in production and will debut in the summer as part of the network’s “Ripped from the Headlines” movie slate, Lifetime said.

“This embarks another possible new chapter in my 50s," Frankel said. "As if being an accidental influencer wasn’t enough…. I’m not worthy!"
