NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police arrested two men accused of attacking and stabbing a 73-year-old good Samaritan who stepped in to protect a pregnant passenger aboard an Upper West Side bus earlier this month.

Both Jaiden Marrero, 24, and Donzell Mitchell, 19, are facing two counts of assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

At approximately 6:30 p.m. on Friday, June 5, Marrero and Mitchell were harassing a pregnant woman who was riding the M104 MTA bus near the intersection of Broadway and West 92nd Street, authorities said.

According to officials, the victim intervened to defend the woman and a verbal dispute turned physically violent.

The two suspects repeatedly punched the man in the head and body, police said. One of the attackers then brandished a knife and stabbed the victim in his left shoulder.

The victim was rushed to Mount Sinai Morningside and listed in stable condition.
