NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – Two men were killed and a woman was in critical condition after a pair of motorcycle crashes in New York City on Saturday night.
The first crash happened on the Williamsburg Bridge around 9:40 p.m. when a man on a Yamaha motorcycle tried to overtake a Dodge sedan at a high rate of speed in the Brooklyn-bound lanes, police said.
The motorcycle struck the rear of the sedan and careened into a metal pillar, according to police.
The man on the motorcycle suffered severe head trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene. He was later identified as Khayyam Jackson, 48, of Queens.
Police said a 31-year-old man driving the sedan remained at the scene and was not injured. Citizen App video shows police investigating.
Several hours later, police responded to another motorcycle crash at Atlantic and Troy avenues in Crown Heights just after 2 a.m.
Police said a 30-year-old man was driving a Kawasaki motorcycle with a 24-year-old woman in the passenger seat when he struck a support pillar for the elevated Long Island Rail Road tracks.
Responding officers found the man and woman with head trauma. They were both taken to Kings County Hospital, where the man was pronounced dead and the woman was in critical condition.
The man was later identified as David Fuller-Gist of Brooklyn.
The NYPD's Highway Collision Investigation Squad is investigating both crashes.
