2 killed in 3 hours in Queens hit-and-runs

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The NYPD is investigating two separate hit-and-run deaths in Queens that happened in a span of less than 3 hours Sunday.

Police responded just after 2 a.m. to a 911 call from 125th Avenue and 233rd Street in Cambria Heights, where a vehicle turning northbound onto 233rd crashed with a motorcyclist riding a 2017 Yamaha southbound. The operator of the unknown vehicle did not remain on scene.

The motorcyclist, identified as 33-year-old Kallyn Jean from Oneida, was pronounced dead at the Northwell Health Long Island Jewish Valley Stream.

Less than three hours later at 4:55 a.m., police responded to a 911 call of another crash, this one in the vicinity of 50th Avenue and 97th Street.

Investigators believe that a white Honda CRV, traveling eastbound on 50th Avenue, hit a person riding a motorized scooter traveling southbound, throwing them to the pavement.

The driver of the Honda CRV did not remain on the scene.

The scooter rider, identified as Amikar Armondo Marquez-Larez, of Brooklyn, was pronounced dead after EMS rushed him to NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst. He was 36.

Police are still investigating both hit-and-runs. No arrests have been reported.
