NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Two men were killed in separate, overnight shootings in the Bronx and Brooklyn, police said Saturday.
Gunfire first broke out around 11:08 p.m. on Friday night in East New York, where an unidentified man was found with multiple gunshot wounds to his torso on Miller Avenue, between Atlantic and Liberty avenues, police said.
The victim was transported to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
A second man, believed to be in his 20s, was shot about an hour later, with police finding the victim with a gunshot wound to his chest near the corner of Rogers Place and East 163rd Street in the Bronx.
That victim was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln, where he was pronounced dead.
Police are still investigating the shootings, which are not believed to be related, and no arrests have been made.
Mayor Bill de Blasio and NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea earlier this week announced year-to-year drops in shootings and murders during this past October — though overall crimes recorded last month increased from October of last year.
