NEW YORK (1010 WINS/ WCBS 880 NEWS) – A shooting in Queens on Friday left one man dead, another in critical condition and two others injured, police said.
The shooting happened at 3:15 p.m. in South Jamaica Queens at 117-29 143rd Street, near Foch Boulevard, according to police.
The victims were all men, aged 29, 29, 36 and 43.
According to police, the victims were standing by a car when an unknown man walked up and shot them.
One of the 29-year-old victims was shot in the back, and the other was shot in the right arm, police said. The 36-year-old man was shot in the left shoulder, and the 43-year-old victim was shot in the back and right arm.
All victims were taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center.
At the hospital, the 29-year-old man, who was shot in the back, was pronounced dead.
The other 29-year-old victim and the 36-year-old victim are listed in stable condition, while the 43-year-old is in critical condition, police said.
Law enforcement is still investigating what the motive could be, but officials said in a press conference late Friday afternoon that they suspect it could be gang related.
A preliminary investigation showed that a gang nexus could be nearby, police said.
All of the victims are known to police, officials said. The release of the identity of the deceased is pending proper family notification.
No arrests have been made and an investigation is ongoing.
