NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Seven of the eight Democratic candidates running for mayor say they would fire NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea, according to a report.
Democratic mayoral candidates Eric Adams, Shaun Donovan, Kathryn Garcia, Carlos Menchaca, Dianne Morales, Scott Stringer and Maya Wiley took part in a mayoral forum at the Jim Owles Liberal Democratic Club in Chelsea on Tuesday night.
All seven candidates vowed to axe Shea and appoint a new police commissioner if they are elected, the New York Post reported.
Shea has faced criticism for his handling of the protests that took place across the city in the weeks after George Floyd's death.
The club didn't invite Democratic mayoral candidate Loree Sutton to participate in the forum "because the group's leader believes she's too conservative," the outlet reported.
