NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers is out for the 2023 season after an MRI showed he suffered a complete tear of his left Achilles tendon in Monday's game, according to multiple reports Tuesday.
The devastating MRI results were first reported by the NFL Network. An Associated Press source also confirmed the results ahead of an update by coach Robert Saleh later Tuesday.
Torn Achilles tendons typically take several months of recovery due to the extensive rehabilitation needed.
Rodgers, 39, suffered the ankle injury during his highly anticipated Jets debut against the Buffalo Bills at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on Monday night.

Rodgers was injured after he was sacked by Bills edge rusher Leonard Floyd on a first down on the Jets’ first offensive possession of the game. After falling to the ground, Rodgers stood up, but sat back down again. He was then helped off the field, taken to the medical tent, and finally taken away in a cart.
The Jets posted on X, formerly Twitter, Monday night that "QB Aaron Rodgers (ankle) is questionable to return #BUFvsNYJ."
Rodgers had a calf injury in workouts this spring.
While on ESPN's "Monday Night Football," Peyton Manning express shock at the injury, telling his brother Eli Manning, "Holy cow, I cannot believe this ... I thought we'd go tape this up and get him back in there!"
