Amazon deliveryman beaten, chased, bashed with bottle as group tries to steal packages in E. Harlem

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- An Amazon deliveryman was bashed in the head with a glass bottle and then chased and beaten by a group of would-be package thieves in East Harlem, police said Wednesday.

The NYPD released images of the four suspects they're searching for in the brazen, broad-daylight attack near E. 117th Street and First Avenue on July 13.

The 27-year-old deliveryman was dropping off packages to residences on E. 117th Street around 5 p.m. when he was approached my four males.

As one man in the group asked him what packages were in his bag, a second man struck him in the back of the head with a glass bottle, police said.

The group then chased him through the street towards First Avenue, where they punched and kicked him, according to police.

The four ultimately fled empty-handed on E. 117th Street towards Pleasant Avenue.

The victim was transported to an area hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries to his head.
