NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – Police are investigating after an entire ATM machine and $1,500 cash were stolen from a Staten Island gas station early Friday morning.

The burglary occurred at 2:30 a.m. at 1842 Victory Boulevard in Castleton Corners, police said.

“The lock was like butter to them, basically. Wasn’t a deterrent at all,” Willie, who handles maintenance for the gas station and the connected Shell and Dunkin’, told 1010 WINS/WCBS 880.

Willie said that once the burglars broke inside the gas station, they cut off the circuit breakers, pried open the safe and stole $1,500.

“And the videos we were watching, they were walking so, like it was a walk in the park. They weren’t hurrying, they weren’t rushed, it’s like they had all the time in the world. They were here almost an hour,” Willie said.

In addition to the cash from the safe, the unknown suspects made off with the gas station’s entire ATM machine.

The burglars even ripped through the boxes that control the pumps outside, Willie said.

Police reported that the suspects fled the scene in a white van headed toward the Staten Island Expressway,

There have been no arrests and an investigation is ongoing.
