A 40-year-old man told police he was approached by two men, one armed with a knife, who demanded money and fled.
Ultimately, the suspects who fit the men's description were taken into custody.
One of the men started to act "erratically" less than an hour later, at 6:40 p.m., and EMS was called to the 72nd Precinct stationhouse, according to police. However, the man refused medical attention.
When police discovered the man unconscious at 7:35 p.m., they requested EMS, started CPR, gave him Narcan and offered life-saving measures.
The man was taken to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn, where he was pronounced dead.
Police said the city's medical examiner will determine his cause of death, and an investigation is ongoing.
