NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A major water main rupture in the Bronx Monday evening caused heavy flooding on the street and submerged cars.
The 48-inch water main break happened at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Webster Avenue between E 201st Street and East Moshulu Parkway South.
Video on Citizen App showed cars submerged in the flooding with water reaching up to the side of their doors.
Vehicles on Webster Avenue were left at a standstill due to the high-pressure water that spilled out from the rupture.
The FDNY, the Department of Environmental Protection, Con Edison and other emergency crews responded to the scene in an attempt to clear the water.
Webster Avenue remained closed from East 204th Street to Bedford Park Boulevard Tuesday morning.
There were no injuries reported.
