NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A man was hit by his own van after a carjacker struck him while driving away in the stolen vehicle on a Brooklyn street last month, authorities said.
The incident happened around 7:15 a.m. after the 45-year-old victim parked his car in front of 4002 14th Avenue in Borough Park with the keys still inside and the van unlocked, police said.
A carjacker then swooped in and got into the vehicle and began to drive away. When the victim ran out to try and stop him, the man struck the victim with the van and continued fleeing, according to officials.
The victim sustained minor injuries but refused medical attention at the scene, according to police, who said his phone was also stolen.
Police said the man they are looking for has a medium complexion, medium build, black hair and goatee. He was last seen wearing a white hooded sweatshirt with an "Adidas" logo on the front, white pants and red sneakers.
Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
