
NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — A child was killed and a woman was injured in an overnight apartment fire in Manhattan, police said.

The fire sparked around 1:30 a.m. Saturday in the superintendent’s basement apartment within a six-story building at 660 West 178 Street in Washington Heights. The blaze also spread to the first floor, police said.
Responding cops found the super’s grandson, Robert Resto, 7, inside with severe body trauma. EMS pronounced him dead at the scene, police said.
Another victim, a 54-year-old woman, was transported to NYC Health & Hospitals/Jacobi, where she is listed in critical condition.
Police reported another three victims suffered minor injuries, in addition to a firefighter who also suffered a minor injury.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
