The NYPD originally confirmed to 1010 WINS that a dismembered corpse had been found in an apartment on Linwood Street near Atlantic Avenue around 5:30 p.m., but the department later recalled its statement.
After renouncing the original claims, authorities said police went to the apartment around 1:30 p.m. after residents complained about smell, found a pool of blood, but could not enter until they got a search warrant.
The New York Post, citing anonymous sources, reported body parts were discovered in multiple suitcases, and that police were seeking a person of interest for questioning.
