NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — The NYPD released video footage on Thursday of two suspects wanted in connection to a series of e-bike robberies in Brooklyn last month, some of which included the thieves assaulting their victims or threatening them with weapons.
The first two incidents occurred on Sunday, April 21, police said.
At 6:29 p.m., a 33-year-old man was riding his e-bike near Bushwick Avenue and Furman Avenue when he was approached by two strangers. The men shoved the victim and forcibly removed his e-bike and key, then fled, police said.
Not 15 minutes later, a 30-year-old man was delivering food at 605 Louisiana Ave. in East New York when two strangers approached him from behind. The pair punched the victim in the face and body, took his e-bike and fled the scene.
The first victim was treated by medical personnel at the scene, and the second refused medical attention, police said.
The remaining three robberies took place in the NYPD’s 75th Precinct, which encompasses East New York and Cypress Hills.
On Saturday, April 27, the robbers once again struck twice. At 7:15 p.m., a 29-year-old was picking up food delivery at 819 Pennsylvania Ave. when the suspects approached and pushed him off his e-bike.
Brandishing a knife, one of the men removed the victim’s e-bike and key and escaped the scene.
Around the corner and not even two hours later, a 37-year-old man left his bike parked outside 850 Pennsylvania Ave. at 9:32 p.m. Officials said two suspects then approached and tried to steal the vehicle.
One of the suspects displayed a knife and pushed the victim to the ground, and the team fled down Stanley Avenue in an unknown direction.
The 29-year-old was uninjured, and the 37-year-old refused medical treatment at the scene, authorities said.
In the last robbery connected to the pattern by police, a pair of suspects approached a 52-year-old man outside 249 Ashford St. at 4:44 p.m. on Sunday, April 28. One robber displayed a gun and then punched the victim, causing him minor injury.
The suspects fled northbound on Stanley Avenue with the victim's e-bike in tow, and the 52-year-old was treated at the scene.
