NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A man was arrested and charged for a stabbing on an East Harlem street Friday evening that left a 17-year-old boy dead and another injured, the NYPD said.

Saul Sanchez, 62, is charged with second-degree murder, second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was arrested in the same precinct as the attack at about 10:45 a.m. Saturday morning.

The stabbing took place just before 6:15 p.m. outside a local deli located at East 108th Street and Second Avenue. A verbal dispute broke out between Sanchez and the victims, which allegedly escalated him to violence, police said.

The teen, identified as Carlos Rivas of the Bronx, was knifed in the chest and lower abdomen. Officials rushed Rivas to NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem where he succumbed to his injuries.

A 22-year-old man was stabbed in the left arm in the fight, while Sanchez himself was slashed across the face, police said.

They were transported to an area hospital in stable condition. It is not yet known who caused Sanchez's injury.

It was not immediately clear what the argument that led to the knife fight was about.

The investigation is ongoing.
