Hammer used to steal $50K in jewelry from Bronx store; 5 suspects sought

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The NYPD is looking to identify five men accused of using a hammer to burglarize a Bronx jewelry store on Sunday.

According to police, at approximately 3:45 p.m., the suspects exited a black sedan and approached the store located at 1627 Westchester Avenue in Soundview.

One of the men then took out a large hammer and broke the store's front display window, officials said.

Multiple pieces of jewelry worth approximately $50,000 were taken by the suspects before fleeing in the black sedan in an unknown direction, authorities said.

The suspects are described by police as males, 20-30 years of age. They were all last seen wearing dark clothing.
