NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A 47-year-old homeless man died after he was found stabbed in the chest in the lobby of a Brooklyn hotel, according to police and a report.

Officers responding to a 911 call around 9 p.m. on Tuesday found the man lying in the lobby of the Artel Hotel, at the intersection of Malcolm X Boulevard and Dekalb Avenue between Bedford-Stuyvesant and Bushwick, with a stab wound to his chest, the NYPD said.

The man was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County, where he was pronounced dead, police said. His name wasn't immediately released.

The Daily News reported that the man was homeless. The hotel has served as a shelter throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the outlet.

The man ran into the hotel after he was stabbed in the street outside, the outlet reported.

No one had been arrested in connection with the stabbing as of Wednesday morning, police said. An investigation is ongoing.
