Iconic SoHo restaurant Mercer Kitchen to close after 25 years

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s iconic downtown Manhattan restaurant—Mercer Kitchen—is set to close this year after 25 years, Eater reported.

The famous eatery, located at 99 Prince Street within the Mercer Hotel, has been a popular attraction for tourists and celebrities since opening 1998.

“It’s been 25 years,” Vongerichten told Eater. “A great run.”

According to their website, Mercer Kitchen was one of the first restaurants in New York City to have a communal table. It also features an open kitchen where guests can view their food being made.

Sources told Eater that Scott Satiano, restaurateur and co-founder of the clubs 1 Oak and Zero Bond, will take over the space.
