Jogger pulled to ground in Staten Island park rape attempt; attacker sought

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police are searching for an attacker wanted in a rape attempt at a Staten Island park last week, authorities said Monday.

According to the NYPD, just before 8 p.m. on Thursday, Apr. 3, a 53-year-old woman was jogging at the Silver Lake Park when she was approached from behind by the suspect who then grabbed her and pulled her to the ground.

The attacker grabbed the victim’s groin area before fleeing in an unknown direction, officials said.

The victim suffered minor physical injuries and was transported to Richmond University Medical Center in stable condition.

There have been no arrests made and an investigation remains ongoing.
