NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A 32-year-old man was wounded in a slashing at a lower Manhattan subway station on Thursday morning, police said.

The attack happened on a northbound 4 train at the Fulton Street station in the Financial District shortly before 5:11 a.m.

Police said the victim was slashed in the abdomen and left arm. He was taken to Bellevue Hospital and is expected to survive.

A 57-year-old man, who police said is known to the victim, fled the scene.

The suspect was wearing blue pants and a black and white checkered shirt, according to police.

The slashing comes amid a spike in violent crime in the subway. Last week, several people were wounded in a slashing spree on the 4 line. The MTA has been calling for more police and mental health resources for the transit system.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
