NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A 44-year-old man was fatally shot in the head on a Chelsea street on Sunday night, police said.
The victim, who has not yet been identified, was shot just after 9:30 p.m. in front of the NYCHA Fulton Houses on W. 17th Street, near Ninth Avenue.
Police responding to a 911 call found him unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the head.
EMS transported him to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, where he was pronounced dead about 90 minutes later.
Police recovered a gun at the scene, but no arrests had been reported as of Monday.
The street was closed to traffic as police continued an investigation overnight.
The victim had 16 unsealed arrests going back to 1990. The most recent arrest was about five years ago for trespassing and drugs.
