NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- An 82-year-man died weeks after he was struck by an SUV while crossing a Queens street, authorities said Thursday.
At approximately 3:45 p.m. on Dec. 9, police responded to a 911 call of a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian struck on 73rd Avenue in the vicinity of Francis Lewis Boulevard in Fresh Meadows, officials said.
Upon arrival, responding officers discovered Majer Rosenfeld lying on the roadway with severe head trauma.
EMS responded to the location and transported Rosenfeld to New York Presbyterian Queens Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on Wednesday, police said.
Further investigation by the NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad determined that a 52-year-old woman was operating a 2022 BMW X4 SUV, traveling eastbound on 73rd Avenue when it struck Rosenfeld who was crossing 73rd Avenue, east of Francis Lewis Boulevard.
Rosenfeld was crossing the roadway from north to south, midblock, officials said.
The vehicle remained on scene, and the vehicle operator was not injured.
There are no arrests, and the investigation remains ongoing.
