NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police have identified a man wanted for vandalizing Timothy Cardinal Dolan's home and linked him to other attacks on Midtown churches.
The NYPD is looking for 28-year-old Juan Velez, who they released a photo of Thursday as part of their hate crime probe.
Last Friday afternoon, Velez allegedly threw a wrench through Timothy Cardinal Dolan's front door at his home behind St. Patrick's Cathedral.
Dolan was not at home during the attack, but he told NBC New York that the incident frightened him.
"You have to wonder if you’re not safe in your own home where are you secure," he said.
Police said that the next day just after 11 a.m., the 28-year-old tore a flag from outside the All Saints Episcopal Church on East 60th Street close to Second Avenue and damaged their wooded front doors.
That night, just before 10 p.m., Velez threw an unknown object at the Archdiocese of New York on First Avenue near East 55th Street, damaging an outer glass door.
Anyone with information in regard to these incidents is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
