NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A 69-year-old man crossing a Queens intersection died after he was struck by a car making a U-turn over the weekend, officials said.

At approximately 2:40 p.m., police responded to a 911 call of a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian struck at the intersection of Jamaica Avenue and Sutphin Boulevard in Jamaica on Friday, November 5.

Upon arrival, responding officers encountered an unresponsive 69-year-old Khalid Rahaman with trauma to his head and body.

EMS transported the victim to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased on Saturday, November 6.

A preliminary investigation determined that a 63-year-old man driving a 2018 Nissan Sport Utility Vehicle made a U-turn from westbound Jamaica Avenue to eastbound Jamaica Avenue and struck Rahaman as he crossed mid-block.

The vehicle remained on the scene and no arrests were made.

An investigation is ongoing by the NYPD's Highway Patrol Collision Investigation Squad.
