NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — The NYPD is investigating after a man died while trying to cross Major Deegan Expressway on foot early Tuesday morning in the Bronx, authorities said.
According to officials, just before 2:40 a.m., the man was attempting to cross the Major Deegan southbound at West Tremont Avenue in University Heights when he was struck by a 65-year-old man driving a Toyota Avalon.
The pedestrian, whose age and identity has not been released by police died at the scene.
The driver remained at the scene and has not yet been charged with a crime.
An investigation remains ongoing.
