NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Officials are searching for a man they said scammed a 75-year-old Staten Island man of $9,000 last month after he allegedly claimed the money was for a family member's bail.
According to police, a man contacted the victim via a phone call around 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 13 and fraudulently stated a family member had been arrested and needed bail money in order to be released.
The victim agreed to have the suspect come to his home to collect the money, police said.
Once the victim handed over the money, the suspect then fled in a vehicle.
Authorities on Wednesday released a photo of the vehicle. The wanted man is described as being between 20 and 30 years old.
Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
